CogniMate.App User Manual
Getting Started
Installation
- Download CogniMate.App from the official website
- Drag the application to your Applications folder
- Launch CogniMate.App
- When prompted, grant Screen Recording permission in System Preferences > Security & Privacy
- Enter your API key when prompted
Initial Setup
- The application will appear as an eye icon in your menu bar
- Configure your preferred settings by clicking the icon and selecting "Settings"
Basic Usage
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Cmd+J: Select a region on screen
- Cmd+N: Capture and process the selected region (standalone query)
- Cmd+M: Capture and continue a conversation with the selected region
- Cmd+E: Close the active result window
Capturing Screen Content
- Press Cmd+J to activate region selection
- Click and drag to select the area containing text
- Press Cmd+N to process the selection
- A window will appear showing the extracted text and AI response
Continuing Conversations
- Select a new region with Cmd+J
- Press Cmd+M to process the selection as a follow-up to your previous query
- The AI will maintain context from your previous interactions
Settings
General Settings
- Visible in screen sharing: Toggle visibility during screen recordings (default: off)
- Allow Multiple LLM Result Windows: Enable multiple response windows (default: on)
- Result Window Transparency: Adjust the opacity of result windows
AI Model Settings
- Server URL: Set the API endpoint URL
- API Key: Enter your API key
- LLM Provider: Select from OpenAI, Claude, or Deepseek
- Model: Choose the specific AI model to use
- System Role: Set the AI's personality (Assistant, Genius, Interviewer, Translator)
Appearance Settings
- Code Appearance: Choose between dark and light mode for code blocks
- Highlight Code Background: Toggle background highlighting for code blocks
- Syntax Highlighting Theme: Select your preferred code syntax theme
Privacy Features
Screen Sharing Protection
- CogniMate.App can detect when screen sharing is active
- When screen sharing is detected, the app remains invisible by default
- A warning appears if you have enabled visibility during screen sharing
- To change this setting, go to Settings > General > Visible in screen sharing
Window Management
- Use Cmd+Arrow Keys to reposition result windows
- Adjust transparency with the slider in the top-right corner of each window
- Close windows using Cmd+E or the standard close button
Troubleshooting
Permission Issues
- If text extraction fails, verify Screen Recording permission is enabled
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Screen Recording
- Ensure CogniMate.App is checked
API Connection Problems
- Verify your API key in Settings
- Check your internet connection
- Confirm the Server URL is correct
- Restart the application after making changes
